First Appointment: Preliminary Examination

The initial appointment is a clinical examination to determine your orthodontic needs.  There is no charge for this exam.  At this time, Dr. Kania will advise you of any orthodontic problems requiring attention as well as his recommendations for treatment. He will discuss with you the various treatment options available and answer any questions you may have. In addition, the fee for orthodontic treatment will also be presented to you in detail so that appropriate financial arrangements can be made. If treatment is indicated, a second appointment will be scheduled to obtain diagnostic records and to begin your treatment.

Second Appointment: Diagnostic Records

Diagnostic records, which consist of impressions of the teeth for articulator mounted study models, facial and dental photographs, as well as panoramic and cephalometric x-rays, are obtained at the second appointment. Diagnostic records enable Dr. Kania to study your orthodontic problems in more detail and determine the most appropriate corrective procedures. The informed consent form and financial contract will also be presented to you at this time. Dr. Kania will be available to answer any questions you may have regarding this information. Finally, separators or "spacers "will be placed where indicated as a preliminary step in initiating your orthodontic treatment.
